Mirror, mirror on the wall... Who am I?

The "Saw" Principle

The rain poured like it was furious, flogging his back and knocking his head, but he didn’t mind, he had experienced this many times that it dint matter anymore, he was used to it. The walk home wasn’t too far, just 30 minutes , he would make it home safe as long as it wasn’t  past 9pm, Sege and his gang emerged at that time and no one in sound mind should be out unless they wanted to join or die!
He was a very smart boy, his teacher advised him to go to Kings College for his secondary education or get a scholarship to White Sands but he feared his parents won’t be able to afford it and he won’t be able to fit in with the “aje butters”. It hurt him though, he knew he was very smart and deemed it unfair that a boy as intelligent as he was wouldn’t be able to get a good education, all because of money! Cursed thing!
He quickened his pace as it was getting late, he knew he stretched the time too far but how could he say no to a nice soccer match with the boys, especially when he knew he’s a very skilled player! Then the rain had to spoil everything and he remembered he had a curfew.  He definitely didn’t want to meet Sege neither did he want to worry his mum so he started running . He began to see lights turned on nearby and his heart started racing, “I need to make it on time o!” he ran faster and then he slipped and fell hard on the muddy floor.
He gradually stood up and tried to squeeze some water out of his clothes and as he squeezed all he could a black Jeep sped past and drenched them once more. He sighed loudly, he hated being poor, he wished his family was rich, at least he won’t have to walk and get soaked and dirty! He wouldn’t have to pretend like he didn’t care about the jokes his classmates crack, they teased and said hurtful things like he had only a pair of trousers and he walked to school because he had no money, they say they could buy his house with their allowance. He also felt bad because they take okada to school and he doesn’t.
He felt terrible now, the fall made it worse. At first he was happy about the correct goal he scored which made him forget about the rain, then he thought  of the nice things his teacher said to him and he felt better then he became scared because he was running late and now he regretted being poor!
He got home on time and just like he figured his mother was waiting for him. She shouted at him for taking time then told him she boiled hot water for his bath and Pounded Yam and Egusi was waiting for him. His little brother ran to hug him then showed him what he drew in the jotter Uncle Tunde dashed him. He sighed, he was happy he was home but was still upset he was poor.

The rain poured like it was furious, flogging the roof and banging the boot, he didn’t mind, all he had to do was put on his headphones and play some music. He took out his iTouch and selected “over my dead body” . He’d met Drake once at this concert where he got a V.I.P seat. As funny as it might sound he actually wanted to go with his dad but he was busy and had been for the past 3 years!
He wasn’t a straight A pupil and he didn’t care, he knew he could get into any secondary school he wanted, his mum knew principals and besides he was going to an English school in Paris, he didn’t have time for this country, it was too hot and too boring. He thought about this while taking a few puffs from his inhaler, cursed thing! He thought. He was off to the hospital again, his leg had to be checked. He hoped it was fine even though this was the 4th in successive months he was going for x-ray on the same leg. The doctor said he had brittle bones and should be especially taken care of.
The driver missed a turn and found himself in a very dodgy area, he made a quick U-turn and sped past splashing some boy with muddy water.  He saw the pool of water soak the boy’s face and clothes, he felt sorry for him and told the driver to be careful next time. He kept staring at him and wondered what he was doing under the heavy rain, couldn't  he at least take a cab or something? The sharp pain on that leg reminded him that he had his own problems to take care of.
He was scared and wished his mother was there, he wished she read him a story or told him how hectic her day was while leaning  on her  shoulders.  He wanted to feel like a big baby for once, he was longing to feel like a big baby. She  was never at home and he was tired of always playing ps3 games with his governess or gossiping about his classmates to the driver. He wished his brother would drive him to school at least one day, preferably on his birthday so he could show him off to his classmates and say “hey! My brother drove me to school!” He couldn’t remember the last time he ever hung out with him, he was always busy either with his friends or going to some party. Sometimes he wished he was as old as his brother so that he could go out with him, he began to cry. He just wanted his parents, he just wanted love… He just wanted his family.

Landscape Beauty

I love Landscape painting and I take pictures of beautiful scenery every chance I get! hmm... I wonder what Claude would say if he saw them... I might just become a nature photographer lol, I doubt that anyway...
There's just something about it, its peaceful and calm, it brings out joy from the deepest part of your heart! it moves to tears!
If you've had a stressful day at work or you just want to experience inner peace, go to an open park or field one day, preferably at sunset and you will experience a taste of nature's beauty

Not nature but Love the car!

God: our greatest artist.

On flying Cars and Robot Friends

I’ve been thinking of a technology strike…  I plan not to use my phone, internet nor watch television.

Wait! Who am I kidding?

I doubt if I would last a day! But then again I might… at least a day lol

Those who know me well could conclude I would hardly survive, it’s sometimes impossible to live without technology, life is so much easier! Many years ago I might have had to wait for weeks to receive or send a message to family who live about 3000 miles away but now I can do it with a click, I could even send a picture or video message and get an instant reply!

I like gadgets, they’ve helped a lot but sometimes I wonder what life would be without them… much better or much worse?

Many suggest that in a few years we would live in a world of uttermost pleasure and relaxation. With the upsurge of ideas ranging from flying cars to invisible clothes, the world might be pretty awesome. I mean, just imagine waking up in the morning and all you have to do is say “bathroom” and your bed flies you to the shower. You don’t need to touch anything! Then from there it takes you to your wardrobe and picks out the best outfit that suits your mood or the occasion. After that it takes you for breakfast then transfers you into the car for work.
Even at work all you have to do is sit on a chair while there’s a robot that senses what you’re thinking and does all the tasks for you. So basically all you have to do is think “arrange the files” and a robot does the filing.
Imagine not having to worry about your looks! A robot is right there at home ready to modify your imperfections or transform into a perfect copy of you just in case things don’t go so well…
I guess that might be pretty cool in the virtual world of movies like “surrogates” and “I, robot” but like the movies imply, it could be pretty depressing.

First of all you will probably get an increase of retarded individuals because everyone decides to leave the thinking to the computers, no one would want to figure out things for themselves anymore. We would all probably be weighing a million tonnes and very unhealthy like the humans in Wall-E (I know, I watch them a lot!)

Well, like I said I don’t have a problem with technology but I think I still like to hold my pen, write on paper,  dot my I’s and cross my t’s.
I'd still like to walk (at least for a few minutes), smell fresh air and sink my feet into sand, twirl and run my toes through  green grass.
I’d prefer to receive poetry with lovely scented natural flowers than some e-card from River songs.
I’d love to watch my friend smile, hug her and take her shopping. I still love a drink with the guys and human company!
I’d love to play dress up once in a while, look in the mirror and be sure I’m human.

Gadgets are good but Living is better.

Wish He Called...

I looked at my phone every second I took my eyes off…
Waiting…
Hoping…
Nothing…

I ached for a call, I longed for a flash. You can’t just meet someone, lead them on, make them fall in love with you then break their heart. That’s so cruel!
I pity girls this happens to and I wish it rarely did. We deserve much more than this but many times we give our hearts away hoping our fairy tales would come true but they always prove us wrong. The male species, so heartless!

Sigh… wish this was my story, funny enough I would have preferred to be at a friend’s house sobbing on her lap or eating chocolate ice-cream because of some guy that dumped me, but this was not my story.

It was no use. I heaved a sigh and went back to bed. I thought to myself I must have really screwed this up. I lay for a while in the dead of night thinking about how stupid I must have been or am for that matter. I felt like the dumbest person in the whole world and what hurt the most was I couldn’t get any of it back because it was lost forever. I didn’t even get consolation from anyone and that made it worse. My friends decided not to talk to me and neither would my parents so I was all alone and all I could do was replay the memories.  At a point I thought I was listening to a melodious voice whispering sweet nonsense into my ear only for my totem to prove me right that I was in a dream.

We met at a friend’s party and we immediately clicked. He said I was cute and I said likewise. I thought he was one of those play boys at first but after we hung out a couple of times I realized he was the real deal. Things escalated from there and every day I felt like I was in paradise. I told all my friends about him and I loved their teasing. He was perfect! We had chemistry and it felt good. He bought me flowers, diamonds and precious stones, he showed me off to the whole world and I loved it!
As I thought about this more tears slid down my cheeks and my sniffs became louder, I was a mess. I couldn’t imagine how I could have felt like a queen a couple of months ago and now like a hopeless woman, I sobbed louder. I decided to make a few phone calls to cheer me up, I even tried flirting with some of my guy friends who got so irritated that they said I needed help. I decided to try social media by commenting on every friend’s status update, wall and picture. Of course I got the message once no one replied and that was when I knew I was truly alone. I decided to watch some  horror flick but that didn’t get me out of my mood plus I assured myself it wasn’t the best choice at the time of night, judging  from the fact that I was home alone so I went back to bed to brood and weep.

I recalled a scene of one tree hill when Lucas went all the way to Los Angeles to see Peyton, then I remembered how I got tired and he got more interested. He asked me if I wanted children, I said yes. He asked me if I wanted to live by the beach, I gave a nervous reply. He asked me to marry him, I said no.
I wasn’t ready, I wanted him with no commitment, and I wanted to focus on other things. I wasn’t ready to neither raise a family nor have to come home to anyone. I wanted his time but not all the time, I loved his parents but wasn’t ready to be part of his family, I was so caught up in my bubble of self that I didn’t realize what I had done.
I acted like it was nothing the days that followed next but when I called and he didn’t call back, when I texted and he didn’t text back then when I heard he travelled without telling me, I knew something was wrong.
I thought he was bluffing and would come back to me but when he returned telling a new story I was shocked!
He got himself a new girlfriend who oozed over him. He bought her flowers, diamonds and precious stones. In a space of 6 months she had met his family. I thought he was doing it to make me jealous till I heard they were engaged and that was when my heart felt like it had been pulled out, stabbed and shredded!!!
I deserved every bit of it and I regret every word I said but there’s nothing I can do now. Peyton said she couldn’t marry Lucas the first time, he left and got engaged. Peyton flew back to tree hill and his fiancĂ© ditched him on the altar. Lucas then married Peyton and they lived happily ever after.
Well… she didn’t ditch him and they are happily married,

Sigh…

Sadly, this is not a Hollywood movie.

A Taste of Japan and China

I have never really thought of going to China but now that I have met many nice and friendly Asians I think I should add it to the travel bee list!
A sweet friend of mine invited me over for dinner one day and on that day I was so tired, she said she was going to cook for me and that scared me a bit (lol) because apart from noodles and rice I wasn't sure I was ready to taste any other type of Chinese cuisine. I bailed but as "fate" would have it she caught me by the corner of a super market while I was waiting to return a book I had borrowed from a friend earlier that day. She asked me what I was doing there and I so thank God I didn't lie because as I answered the guy I was waiting for emerged and to my surprise they were neighbors! this just made me feel like such a bad friend and to add to my guilt she said "now you're here, lets go get dinner!" of course I had no choice and I'm very glad I did because it was some wonderful adventure!

We went to Wasabi to get something to eat. As we were ordering I quickly asked for prawns and noodles (trying to be safe), she then asked me if I had ever tasted Sushi, I said  (hell no!) no. thinking that was the end she was like "do you want to try? its very nice" and in my head I was thinking "are you kidding??? raw fish!!! naija babe like me eat raw fish ke! when I can barely manage smoked fish!" but instead my lips spluttered "yes!"
To be honest I had thought of eating Sushi so I guess I did a bit of free association there.

Anyway we bought the sushi, I also got the prawn noodles and she got chicken noodles, I thought that was all then she said we should go to her flat for dinner, that she had some food cooked specially for me (guilt poked me further) so I went with her.

We got to the flat and I made myself comfortable because by this time I was getting quite excited to try raw fish and she had gone to the kitchen to get cutlery and stuff. I found my way to the kitchen, settled down and decided to eat my delicious prawns and noodles (I was starving at this point). Honestly I did not know what to say when I opened my pack and saw this liquid thing staring at me! I  complained " Sue, I think there is a problem, I ordered Prawns and noodles!" and she replied "yes, thats prawns and noodles soup!" I wanted to faint! so much for playing safe!

Well, I did have to eat up and at first it was torture but after a while it didn't taste so bad, kind of reminded me of pepperless pepper soup with large and small strings of noodles mixed with huge prawns. After I tried to finish that I was served the Sushi!!!!

This was it! the featured food of the day! a plate of raw fish with some greenish paste was put in front of me. I felt like I was in some fear factor game but I was excited all the same and so I took the first bite.....

Drums rolling.......

Chewing......

NOT BAD AT ALL!!!!!

It was quite nice! didnt exactly taste so bad and it went very well with the sauce which I later found out was Wasabi sauce.

I told her it was good and she clapped her hands and said "yaay! good! now time to try some seaweed!"

It tasted like crayfish or something (not bad either).

By that time my tongue had got used to trying all sorts of new things that I didn't mind being a little more adventrous. Here are a few of the other dishes I tasted.

She showed and explained to me the differences between types of spaghetti and other very interesting and educative stuff....

Tried using chopsticks but failed woefully!
I was more than stuffed after all the food but glad that I got to experience a different kind of food culture.
It was a truly wonderful evening!

I saw a Rainbow!!!!

I have to admit I like walking, I love to feel the wind glide through my skin and feast my eyes with the wonders of nature. I also love to clear my head and fill it with inspiration from the sweet sounds of  birds or the gentle sway of  grass  or the silence of open space. Its a very refreshing feeling, quite good for improving ones total well being.

I took a nice walk (and beyond) through the park today and it was filled with beautiful scenery... will like to share some with you...

Nice spot for soccer my brother might say

Hustle and bustle as always
aah, much better

The Nightmares of my past (Prose)

The nightmares of my past haunt me...

They lurk like ghoulish shadows round my bedside. They mock me, they tell me I'm a failure. They create a presence of cold winter, cold regret freezes my heart. I shiver at the sight of past wrong, feel remorse for the bad I've done.  For the first in many years, I'm humbled to repentance.
I've caused so much harm that a second chance eludes me, cant think of  excuses because I knew they were wrong, knew the gravity more than those who accompanied me and with more thinking  I take all the blame and burden myself with guilt.
I wish my past could glide like the autumn leaves that sway in the breeze,  wish they could bury themselves in the heap of snow to be frozen, never to be  melted by the warm summer sun, never to be revisited in the pages of  life. I wish they could be alternatively burnt in the furnace of forget and the dancing skeletons replaced by the white robe of innocence.

Sadly  wishes aren't horses and mistake is a great reminder...

As I curl  in clutched sheets and think of my past, hope gives me gladness and sends the ghosts running, I think of  now. I act...  I let go of guilt.

So I wake from the nightmare of things that were and look to now to dream and obtain a better future.

Yahoo on another level

Sometimes its good to be broke....

when you're broke you know the value of money so you easily walk pass shops and know for sure you don't need the iPhone 4S or the iPad 2 because you already have a Blackberry torch and an iTouch which cater for all your virtual needs (including your laptop, camera, camcorder etc etc....)

I heard a story about an innocent girl who got blacklisted because she was suspected for anti-money laundering (something like that) and the  consequence is she doesn't get to have an account in any UK bank. This poor girl did nothing but follow orders from her employer a.k.a  YAHOO GUY!

she was told her job was to pay money into some one's account through Western Union, she was also told she would be paid a good amount of money for it every week. Hardworking as she was she carried out orders meticulously and ended up being blacklisted.

I was told this story by a friend of mine a while ago and I pitied the poor girl, I also wondered why she didn't see it coming till it nearly happened to me....

you think a girl would learn!

I was seriously looking for a job in my excitement to feel the thrill of working part-time while studying (which I'm sure is not), so I responded to a mail sent to my school mailbox. I accepted the job because the pay attracted me- 160 pounds per week! I did not pay attention to the bracket which said PROBABLE SPAM because I thought it couldn't be coming from my school email. Anyway I accepted the job and was told I would be paid an extra 50 pounds for connectivity allowance ( great u think). I was quite happy that I had finally got a job and was eager to start asap.

The Job: Delivering Packages.....

I know, I know, stupid me right? that just goes to show when one is too desperate for something they probably don't think it over and  damn the consequences ( which could be fatal)

So I got a message saying  950 pounds had been transferred to my account and that I should send it through Western Union to some guy with a weird name, apparently the guy I was to send it to was meant to be the "supplier" and he needed the money to start "packaging". Once I saw that I had a sneaky feeling something was wrong, I mean this guy told me they were an Australian based company who needed packages to be delivered round London not anywhere else. He even sent me a link to his company's website and an employment letter like a proper contract! but I know for sure that one had to be careful when it came to transferring money for a stranger. Anyhow I checked my account to see if the money was there- of course it wasn't...

I told him this, he said I should use out of my money that when the money hits I could take what is mine including the 50 pounds allowance...

Like I said its good to be broke....

I told him I did not have that kind of money, that he should cancel the transfer and give it to me face to face. He said no, that he will cancel the transfer instead.

It was at that point my brain did a reboot and recalled the story I was told! so I went to the bank to report the issue  and they said they would take it from there.

I agree I was not wise but I am happy that I did not have to pay for it and I hope my foolishness will be a lesson to those who receive such emails. Now I think the only job I shall apply for is one that asks for my N.I number and two referees, definitely not a mailing job!

No Kele Kele Love

I like this song by Tiwa Savage, I stumbled on another song by her on my friend princess's blog and  I think she's quite talented. It just sums up so many things a girl has to know about getting a decent guy and not a play boy.
It really annoys me when girls settle for less because they have been brainwashed to think all men are the same; in this context all men cheat! NO girls, all men DON'T CHEAT!
Don't let them deceive you, its just another way to make it look like what they're doing is okay, ITS NOT!

I believe all men don't and won't  cheat for the following reasons

  • Men are human beings not animals, however most times the indecent ones act solely on instinct, so what are you doing with him? go for guys who reason, guys that think, guys that are smart! in this sense I mean guys that no matter how many naked women they see they are not triggered in any way because they know what they want and are not interested in the physical, that's why he chose you!
  • Men have emotions too, I strongly believe if a guy loves you he would not cheat on you no matter how many guys try to prove you wrong. Many guys say that its not just love that can keep a guy from cheating, there might be other factors but it is very possible to say its a strong reason to be faithful because when you love someone your happiness lies in knowing the person better, being with the person and making the person happy. So there won't be time for him to think about how to meet Lara at the parking lot at night.
  • Guys who say they love you and still cheat are just highly in-disciplined, that's just it! they lack self control and you dont deserve to be with such a man. If you are dating someone who is in-disciplined be ready to hear all sorts of stories.
  • A guy most possibly wont cheat if he is decent, preferably God-fearing and in my opinion that's the best kind of man to date because he loves God and knows God will give him the strength to overcome his weaknesses and temptations. Also he knows better not to put himself in any situation that would make him lose you and that's showing true love
  • Most guys who say "I love you" easily don't mean it, that's what I know as KELE KELE love. they tell you because they know that is what you want to hear. Dont fall for any guy that finds it very easy to say those words, in most cases its not true.
  • Men like to be loved and appreciated as well. If you have a guy who loves you and shows it please show him love and attention, dont frustrate him to cheat. In my opinion they wont cheat if they are not frustrated.
  • Men wont cheat if you dont cheat, simple.
Ladies please understand that you don't have to be with someone if you'd end up with one who does kele kele love. Be patient, be yourself and the right guy will come along.

Hello... I want to play a game

The sick yet amusing phrase "hello.... I want to play a game" gives me shivers and also excitement!

At a point in time I was afraid to watch Saw even if I enjoy watching horrors and thrillers, then recently I summed up the courage and started a popcorn living room Saw night with my siblings and friends. It has been very entertaining so far and funny enough It does have some form of philosophy behind it.
The torture and death of Jigsaw's victims are (according to my sister) sick and twisted, actually I agree but there is also some form of intelligence in them. the character is a very clever fellow and this can be seen in the sophisticated torture instruments

This Doll is so annoying!
The movie as twisted as it might seem does make a few points;

Yeah, be grateful for the life you have, the caring and supporting family you live with (even if you don't have everything you hoped for) or the large bowl of rice you get to eat (even if you wish you had spare ribs more often) or the flat you live in (even if you wish for a mansion). It beats being tied to a metal pole in a smelly bathroom with a tape which says "play me"

Yeah to err is human, to forgive is divine (Alex's quote). It can be extremely hard to forgive but I guess its good to seek divine assistance in that area or you might end up losing yourself in malice and vengeance or worse losing life and happiness. Besides it beats your head being fixed into a heavy metal trap with an unconscious man beside you and a tape which reads "play me"

Just finished the third part and I think it was brilliant! hope the others make sense (think they should stop at the 7th though)

All in all, be grateful for life or you might just find yourself somewhere with a tape  which says "play me"

Baby Blues Part 2

I shall take the pains to type this quite long excerpt from a bulletin that was given to me; it belongs to Precious Life Pro-life training programme. I hope it will further convince you.

ANSWERS TO “PRO-CHOICE” THINKING
1.       The Pro-choice philosophy says “we have the choice to abort a child”

It is a proven medical and scientific fact that the “choice” some people accept is the killing of a person.  Defenders of slavery used this same strategy- “I’m not going to own a slave, but I don’t have a right to tell you what to do”. Abortion is the killing of a human being. The choice is always wrong.
Dr Jerome Lejeune- “Father of modern Genetics”- told the American Senate, “To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place a new human has come into being is no longer a matter of taste or opinion… it is plain experimental evidence”
Dr Hymie Gordon, Chairman, Department of Genetics at the Mayo Clinic added; “by all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception”.
Dr McCarthy de Mere, Medical Doctor and Law professor, University of Tennessee testified, “The exact moment of the beginning of personhood and of the human body is at the moment of conception
Dr Alfred Bongiovanni, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine concluded, “ I am no more prepared to say that these early stages represent an incomplete human being than I would be to say that the child prior to the dramatic effects of puberty…. Is not a human being”.

2.       The Pro-choice philosophy says, “The government has no right to interfere in someone’s personal choices”.
The government restricts choices all the time. Do you have a choice to steal, to drive drunk, slander other people? Every abortion kills a person who is a unique individual. That is a proven medical and scientific fact. Simply calling something a personal “choice” doesn’t make it right.

3.       The Pro-choice philosophy and abortion industry say “the government has no right to interfere in the toughest decision a woman will ever make”
Well, killing your own child should be a tough decision. If a man were thinking of killing his 10 year old daughter to collect on an insurance policy, it is logical to assume that it would be a tough decision for him to make but that does not mean it should be Legal.

4.       The Prochoice Philosophy says that the government has no right to force a woman to have a child
Can you imagine a man on trial for killing his five year old saying “the government has no right to force me to have a child”? Legally protecting the lives of the unborn has nothing to do with forcing a woman to have a child. Once a woman is pregnant, she has already brought a child into the world; she is already a mother.

5.       The Pro-choice philosophy says “ The government should not be involved in the practice of medicine”
First, telling doctors they cannot kill someone is not practising medicine; its common decency. Second the medical profession and drug industry are the most highly regulated businesses. The glaring exception is the abortion industry which is virtually unregulated. A school nurse can’t give a child aspirin without her parents’ permission but she can take her to get an abortion without her parents ever knowing.

6.       Pro-choice thinking says “ The government has no right to tell a woman what she can or can’t do with her body”
The baby inside her mother is a separate individual from her mother with her own genetic code, blood type, finger prints, brain, beating heart, nervous system. The child in the womb feels pain independent from her mother, can be awake while she is asleep, can be healthy while her mother is sick. The baby in the womb is her own person. By the way, the government does regulate some things we can go with our own bodies. We can’t sell our bodies for sex, sell our organs to people in need for transplants or put certain drugs into our bodies.
7.       The Pro-choice philosophy says “ A woman cannot be free unless she has the right to abortion”
What kind of freedom is it to be able to kill your own child? Abortion is not a sign that women are free but that women are desperate and have been fed a lie.
8.       Pro-choice thinking says” Why should a foetus have more rights than a woman?”
This is the abortion industry’s sleazy way of pitting mothers against their own children. Once a woman has conceived a child, she has brought a new life into the world that is as fully human as she is. The right to life does not depend on size or age but on being a human person. Does a toddler have a greater right to live than an infant? A teenager more of a right to life than a toddler? Does a strong, intelligent adult deserve to have more rights than a handicapped child? If the billion- dollar abortion industry would stop pitting women against their own children and begin to show even a little compassion for the child in the womb, countless women would be saved from a lifetime of pain and regret and countless children would be saved from death.
 1.       The abortion industry and Pro-choice mind-set say “if a woman is carrying a child with a handicap, she should not be forced to have it. Handicapped children lead terrible lives”
People with disabilities are no less human than any other people. They have the same rights to life as a healthy person. Can you imagine a drunk driver who kills a handicapped child saying “he should be let off the hook because the “quality of life” of the child he killed was not up to his standards? Do you really feel qualified to determine the quality of life of another person and then decide if he should live or die? That is exactly what you are doing if you say handicapped children should be aborted.

2.       What about a single mother who just can’t afford another child?
Poverty is no excuse for killing children. What if a woman had four kids and lost her job? Does this give her the right to drown two of them?  To suggest that someone’s right to life can be denied because of his financial status is disgusting. The “poverty deserves death” idea of the abortion industry is another one of its sleazy strategies. Pro-life organisations have opened thousands of help centres for mothers in need. The abortion industry has opened zero; it just makes billions from killing the children of the poor.

3.       Pro-lifers talk about late term abortion as if they were common
They are very common. One abortionist in the USA has admitted to killing OVER 10 000 babies between 24-36 weeks. Another has admitted to committing so many late term abortions, he can’t remember the number. Both of these doctors admitting these statements are available on audio tape.

4.       The abortion industry and pro-choice smoke-screen say “no one can prove when life begins. It’s up to the woman to decide based on her own beliefs”
No modern medical, scientific or biology text says that life begins at any other time other than conception. Life is a continuum from the moment of conception until death. We have different names for the stages of life: zygote, foetus, infant, toddler, teenager, adult, middle ager, elderly, but they are ALL STAGES OF HUMAN LIFE. Can a woman decide that her child is not fully human until she can walk on her own? Would it be OK for her child if it is what she believed? It is a proven medical and scientific fact that life begins at conception. All of your genetic material was present at the moment of conception; nothing was added later. A person is a person no matter how small.

5.       The abortion industry and Pro-choice rhetoric say “Pro-lifers talk about abortion as killing a baby. That is not true. There is a foetus but not a baby”
The word “foetus” simply describes a stage of development of human life. When the person moves from the inside to the outside of the womb, it is called a different name such as infant or new-born despite the biological fact that fundamentally, no change has taken place. As time goes on, the person will be called by different names but at no stage is she more or less human. When they talk about a child in the womb whom they do NOT intend to kill, even pro-choice people call her a baby. But if they intend to kill her, they attempt to dehumanise her by calling her a “product of conception”, “a clump of cells” or “a potential life”. Have you ever heard a pregnant woman say “my clump of cells just moved” or “my product of conception just kicked”? Or has a couple ever looked at an ultrasound of their baby in the womb and said, “Look! You can see the potential life’s heart beating and sucking her thumb”? Nothing is created at birth. It is a person who comes out of her mother and it is a person who is killed in every abortion.

6.       The abortion industry says “The world has a major problem with overpopulation. So how would we feed these children when millions are starving?”
The philosophy that is acceptable to kill certain completely innocent human beings in order to accomplish social objectives is not only the very definition of evil, its irrational and ineffective. In Britain, we are talking about a country of affluence that kills over 600 children a day, mostly for convenience. The number of children in Britain or Ireland who would one day starve to death for all practical purposes is zero. To kill millions of children to keep a tiny fraction of them from being hungry is lunacy.
The children in the world who are starving to death are almost as exclusively in third-world nations where regressive regimes cause pain and destruction through corruption and political disputes. It is a well proven fact that people do not starve to death because of overpopulation or because there is not enough food in the world. The Earth produces more than enough food to feed every man, woman and child. Killing children through abortion won’t overthrow a totalitarian regime; it won’t allow free enterprise in other countries. It won’t improve farming techniques, won’t build roads, and won’t improve food distribution systems. Using abortion as a solution to poverty does allow nations and individuals to pass the buck onto the poor and frees them from their responsibility to help those in need and reinforces a “death-as-a-solution” philosophy that just leads to more poverty and broken lives.

7.       Why won’t pro-lifers do something to help people who are already born?
There are many free-crisis pregnancy centres funded and staffed entirely by pro-life people. Each provides some or all of the following: friendship, counselling, adoptions, and help for mums to continue their education, post abortion counselling and many other free services. On the other hand the billion dollar abortion industry offers one choice: a dead baby!
Pro-life organisations provide real help for mums. They are in it for the long run. They keep in touch with many of the mothers and help in any way they can, even years after the mothers have given birth. WHY? Because these mothers who choose life deserve love and support but even more than that, they become like family. Sometime you should try holding a baby who was saved from abortion and see if you could ever believe in “choice”.
The billion dollar abortion industry and pro-choice mind-set say pro-lifers don’t help women in need. This is a blatant lie. Maybe someone should ask those who make millions from abortion what they do to help society apart from killing children.

8.       Some children lead terrible lives. Wouldn’t it be better if they were aborted? What about all of the children who will be abused because they are unwanted? We need to make sure every child is a wanted child.
Do you really want to suggest we eliminate some child abuse that might occur sometime in the future by executing the potential victims today? That makes about as much sense as eradicating wife- beating by killing all married women. Of course this type of question completely ignores the fact that abortion itself is the ultimate example of child abuse. Since abortion in Britain was made legal in 1967, children have been killed by the tens of thousands, yet child abuse has increased dramatically. If abortion is going to reduce the number of children when is this going to happen? Close to 7 million children have been killed in Britain since 1967. How many more children have to be killed before this plan begins to work?

9.        Abortion must be allowed for rape and incest
Rape and incest are hideous crimes. People who commit them should be punished. Nevertheless, a baby who results from rape or incest is an innocent human being with the same rights to life as everyone else. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Why should we add the crime of murder to these crimes? We should not kill a child for the sins of his father. Killing an innocent human being is never justifiable.

10.   What gives you religious people the right to force a woman not to have an abortion?
A person does not have to be especially religious to say it’s wrong to kill a child any more than you have to be religious to say it is wrong to steal money. In reality, abortion is a civil and human rights issue. Just because so many people are motivated by their religious beliefs to oppose the killing of children through abortion does not make it a religious issue. If the argument is that abortion should be off limits to the law because people with religious beliefs oppose it, shouldn’t everything in the Ten Commandments be off limits to the law; e.g. murder or theft?

11.    The Bible and Jesus never say anything about abortion
The vast majority of behaviours that are immoral and illegal today are not mentioned in the Bible. Jesus did not give us a laundry list of every offence and sin against God. The Bible and Jesus didn’t mention stock manipulation and child pornography, but it is safe to conclude that Jesus spoke against theft and lust. The Bible and Jesus repeatedly warn against doing harm to children, shedding innocent blood, committing murder, etc. The Bible and Jesus are also perfectly clear that God is the Author and Originator of all life from the moment of conception both in the Old and New Testaments. There is never a distinction between born and unborn people, nor is there any different language used to describe them.
The unborn child is always referred to in the exact same manner as the born child. Logically, we have no choice but to accept the fact that God views them as the same and intends for us to treat them in the same way.
Psalm 139:13- You it was who fashioned my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
Luke 1:15- And he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.
Isaiah 49:1- The Lord called me before I was born, He named me from my mother’s womb.
Genesis 25: 22- The children pressed on each other in the womb.
Jeremiah 1: 5- Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.
Psalm 22:10- From my mother’s womb you have been my God.
Hosea 12:3- Even in the womb Jacob supplanted his brother.
Mt 25: 40- Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my people, you did it to me.
Mt 19: 17- If you would enter life keep the commandments
Exodus 20:13 “YOU SHALL NOT KILL”
JESUS SAID “WHATEVER YOU DO TO THE LEAST F MY PEOPLE, YOU DO UNTO ME”
ABORTION IS THE KILLING OF A PERSON WHO IS COMPLETELY LOVED BY GOD, HAS AN IMMORTAL SOUL AND IS OUR SISTER AND BROTHER.

Baby Blues

Since I almost witnessed the birth of a beautiful baby boy I've been filled with joy! just looking at him is more than enough to make me smile, his mother is also so happy and excited at the birth of her first child. Its quite remarkable to observe how he senses her presence and knows when she's near. I could comfort him for hours when he's crying but once he feels the presence of mummy he stops and waits for her to gently place her palms on his head and bottom, lift him with delicacy and place him gently on her arms ready to nurse and cuddle. Honestly that sight is truly enchanting.
However I am  struck with the symptoms of baby blues which usually include depression and heightened emotions and that's because after seeing such a wonderful sight I'm saddened by the number of people who think abortion is o.k.
I have always been pro-life but not really passionate about it till I witnessed first hand the numerous number of women and young girls who troop into the abortion clinic daily and also the number of abortions that take place in a day round the world, quite frankly its frightening!
Some people give excuses that if one is not prepared to be a parent one has the choice to "terminate" pregnancy, issues like the age of the woman (e.g a teenager) and income are usually given as reasons why abortion is o.k. In the first instance I believe if a teenager  thinks she is mature enough to have sex then she should be mature enough to be a mother, after all that's what puberty is all about, our organs develop for that specific function; to house an unborn child so she should also be ready to take responsibility for her actions, moreover society is trying to teach the youth responsibility and strength of character so this is a very good way to do it. In the case of incest and rape like I said in an earlier post ,the government or society needs to take action, the culprit needs to be dealt with accordingly, however one needs to understand its not the child who did the act, the child became a product of the act and is completely innocent. So should one blame the child for the criminal offence?
in the case of income, God always finds a way to help, He has made it in such a way that charities and organisations emerge solely for this purpose, to take care of women who don't have the means to fend for themselves and their child because no matter how one looks at it, the end never justifies the means. An example could be seen from an article I read from an organisation called Precious Life;  if there is poverty in a home of 3 children does it mean the father or mother should kill two in order to survive?
People also say that there are not enough resources to feed the world and bringing children into the world worsens the situation, our world is blessed with many resources and our problem is not lack of resources but mismanagement of resources. If one feels there isn't enough to go round then we should all decide not to waste food and try to manage the resources we have. Tonnes of food are wasted  almost every time so if we manage food resources properly, population would never be a problem.
There are more tangible reasons why abortion is not o.k but these are a few of them. No one is judging those who have had or think its o.k. We are all entitled to our opinions but its very reasonable to try to make one understand that this act kills a human being. No matter the location or the size, the  human foetus has the same characteristics and features as a born baby and same as a full grown man or woman, it will not grow into a dog, cat or plant. So if we all agree that a new born baby is a human being, I don't think its difficult to understand that the baby in the womb is more than just a potential life.
Please think about it. click on the links to read better explanations of this post, I really hope I have been able to convince you that abortion is a terrible act and that it does not solve a woman's problem.

The Labour Room

Once upon a time I wanted to be a doctor but after a while I realized I loved writing better.

I enjoy watching thriller and horror movies and only recently found a horror movie that I could finally admit was the scariest I've seen this year (Insidious) but these movies never got to me because I knew they were not real life.

Here comes the reality

I won't consider this to be an experience fit for a horror movie but the fact that it was real made it scary.
Just seeing the instruments displayed on the table chilled my spine and they hadn't even started anything... they weren't even going to use them!

watching someone dear to me in pain really scared me, I felt like the abdominal aches were transferred to mine and I started contracting, coupled with the thought that that might be me one day and all of a sudden even looking at the doctors gave me the prickly feeling that  I might not last the night. It became worse when I had to put on an encouraging smile so that I didn't freak out the mother to be and even that was a very hard task. I am sure she wondered  what the twisted frightened smiley  face was about but I hope it was comforting ( well, sort of)

I thought I would reach the climax of my fear when she was wheeled to the theatre so I opted out of being there and cuddled at a corner saying series of prayers and texting my feelings to some. when all was done and she was returned I was anxious and filled with worry but once I beheld that beautiful face I knew everything was okay and my fear vanished like it was never there.

I went into a labor room and experienced pain second hand (if I should call it pain at all) so I wonder how much pain she must have felt, however what struck me was how fast all that pain vanishes once you behold that beautiful creature; the smooth delicate skin, pearly eyes and tender feet not to mention the innocence that gives a gentle glow. A baby is truly a gift from God.

While I witnessed the early stages of labor  I was definitely sure I chose the right field and also developed wavering views about marriage and children but when I saw the baby I totally understood why women still decide to bear all that pain!

So I say CONGRATULATIONS to all new mothers, its not an easy task but it shows much more, not only the immense strength of a woman but also how one baby can take away all the pain you've ever felt. The reward truly overshadows  the suffering.

London from my Perspective

Apart from Johnny Depp being my favorite actor, I love musicals and London is a very good place to see the best shows in the world!

Here is London from my perspective.

  • One can find history  in almost every building and these are preserved with greatest respect. The museums are very interesting and  must be visited! each museum tells a story worth knowing and sometimes it feels like 100 or 200 years past brought back to life!
  • In my opinion, the average Englishman is quite broadminded and knows a bit of everything (the ones I've met at least). Some are also well cultured, they read widely, know how to play at least one musical instrument, one type of sport or speak at least a foreign language! I think this is a very good thing for us to try to emulate. Human beings are capable of doing so many things!  I heard a while ago that the genius Einstein probably used only about 10 percent of his brain! if that's true then I dread to think how much we've wasted our potentials!
  • Although the dominance of Science and technology have caused many to lose faith in God, the very few who are still faithful worship straight from the heart and this is one major thing I have noticed. Although very few people go to church, the glow on the face of the 10 or a little more who go is one of struggle as a result of love, they practice true Christianity and one can be silently and sweetly drawn to God by their Christlike attributes, it makes one see that it is not the numbers in church that matter but the number of lives that are changed for the better

So although many might have been in and out of London a couple of times, there are still many interesting places and things to discover. I think that although its fun to go to Madame Tussuad's, The London Eye and Dorothy Perkins one could discover much more.

P.S: the first song in the video is kind of what I wanted but I'm no good at video editing lol!

My Country from My Perspective

I've been feeling nostalgic lately, this is the longest time I haven't seen my family  (7 months). I miss sitting on table on Sundays and racking my brain for the next religious/science/current affairs question my father would ask. I also miss the taste of dried peppered Kilishi and juicy Suya! the smell of fresh fried fish and the taste of Palm oiled starch and Banga Soup!

These are but a few things that keep me in love with my country, although we have a pretty bad reputation, I don't quite see myself settling anywhere else unless its not God's Will. In the past and recent times Nigerians have been labelled as crooks and criminals as a result of those who care less for morality nor human dignity and this has made it quite difficult for us as a whole to be trusted. Media is quick to judge our actions and many always have bad stories to tell about one or more places in the country. We all know the horrible things some of our kinsmen have done but I believe we have hope to redeem this sad reputation.

Our country is not all bad. Although it has its problems and issues, there are still a few good things:

  • There is still some form of respect for elders. In my opinion we still honor the elderly and perceive their words as wise, the only thing we might need to work on is to understand that we can learn from any and everybody, a child can learn from the mother and the mother can definitely learn from the child. Many elders or people in authority get upset when someone lesser in rank or younger than they are points out important issues or corrects them in some form (not referring to being impolite). I do not think they should see it as a form of challenge to them, I believe a young man and his father can have a decent conversation and reason their opinions out without the elder feeling the young one is being disrespectful.
  • a large majority of  Nigerians still believe in God and go to church! we still have a sense of God's existence in our lives and that is a major attribute. What we could work on is truly living our faith. A million people may go to church or pray for hours but if we do not love God and live in the way He wants our going to church becomes superficial.
  • we have a sense of community. If a person is trying to steal from another person, someone around would definitely shout "ole! ole!" and strong hefty men would come out of nowhere to chase and deal with the culprit even to the extent that they overdo it. Also when you are driving I'm sure one must have spotted someone waving his arm out of the window shouting  to another person driving beside him and some times trying to get your attention, you see him pointing  and mouthing or shouting "your tyre! your tyre!" words are so often repeated that way. There is also a form of family bond, although it could be worked on a bit, parents still try to spend time with their children and children still communicate with parents plus every family friend and relation is called "uncle" or "aunty". This is a very good trait we have and I pray we keep it (well, not exactly the "uncle" and "aunty" part lol)
  • Nigerians are happy people! with the state of the country people still find ways to make themselves feel good from countless sewing of Aso Ebi and going for many parties to normal games like "ten ten" and "suwe". An average Nigerian always looks for ways to make his life better, to search for happiness and joy, he constantly refuses to be melancholic and that in my opinion is a wonderful thing. We could just try not to achieve happiness at the expense of others and try to be morally and spiritually upright which are the keys to true happiness!
So we are not all bad and our country isn't either. We have our few perks like other countries do and like other countries we can do something about it. We cannot look to our government, system nor our leaders to form a good reputation for ourselves. Although life is not all about having a good name but we could give ourselves some self respect, if we want change we have to be the change by changing ourselves. In this way we touch many lives without our knowing it which could affect our country as a whole and make it a better place so that through faith and hope, it shall be.

A story to tell

I have a story to tell which is one of the reasons for my absence, you can check it out here!

Tuesday 23 August 2011

What will happen to them?

I was watching a programme on television and it involved children, very cute, innocent looking children. They were on their way to a studio to learn something; something I was waiting to know about and then it popped up! a dozen stark naked men and women! they were learning sex education!!!!
I truly wonder how slapping naked men and women on television teaches children  about sex! apparently some people think that the stork or dolphins story is like telling a lie to children but honestly is showing children the graphic images of having sex the better option?
Children's minds are developing, in my opinion they are fragile and need to be treated with care, yes they will ask such questions at a point in time and the stork story might not be good enough for them but there are also milder ways of explaining these things to them. Children grow too fast thanks to the media and this sex filled world but we could help them enjoy childhood by making them enjoy each stage of life. We all remember and probably miss the times when we did not know too much or care too much about "adult" things, can't we allow children enjoy childhood for once in their lives??
I am highly heart broken that parents and other agents of socialization are not letting children be children and that is why the world is turning into a hell hole!
Please let children BE children. Yes, tell them where little Jimmy came from but innocently and not with illustrations nor diagrams!
Thank You and God Bless!!!

Belief with Reason

It is debatable to say that we are fortunate to live in this century. Science and Technology have practically catered for any physical need one could think of ranging from transport to communication to even trivial things but they have also caused dangerous effects like global warming and  loss of millions of lives. It is also debatable to say that man has developed intellectually over the years because I am of the view that if structures that were built over a hundred years ago are still standing today, a picture painted hundred years ago can still hold a million stories  and centuries old sculptures look like real human beings frozen in time, then maybe human beings have either stopped thinking or have drastically reduced in intelligence because with the rate at which all these were made, human beings should have moved further than just the Internet at this time.
it is quite obvious that man has become heavily dependent on science and  technology often confusing it for the reason for our existence. Everything has been made so easy that even human thinking is done by computers and individuals become similar to robots.
Imagine a world where everything is done for you and you do not need to do anything at all but just wake up in the morning. imagine if you did not have to work nor take a bath nor do anything that would be discomforting. At first it seems like paradise but after a while one would get bored and judging from human nature, would feel useless. As a result of our being, there is always something we look forward to or try to achieve. As Abraham Maslow explained in his own way; self actualisation is the paramount need to a goal an individual tries to attain and this is probably the reason why we cannot be satisfied by lazying around in the house or lying flat on the couch. We always have this inner motivation to strive to become better at whatever we do or to become the best we can be. Technology shows how much man has achieved physically but yet it is still not enough to satisfy human beings. This brings me to the reason why man constantly feels insatiable and this is because there is one major aspect of his life that is missing.
Religion in the modern world (especially in developed countries) is probably seen as primitive knowledge, those who still believe in God are possibly considered unintelligent and backward. What people tend not to realize is that the motivation to be the best one can be  is to achieve perfection like an infinite being, free from defects. Isn't God this being?
I could talk about the uncausable cause and other philosophical ideas but  I wish I listened more in class, however it is possible to say that the reason why science is believed more than God is because human beings are more captivated by what they see. Empirical evidence is taught to be the basis for any form of knowledge and reason is not concrete enough to produce facts which are necessary to obtain a sane society. Although one needs to approach things objectively it should be understood that logic and reason have to go together to develop a well rounded concept. For instance, it is only logical that if one should touch a live wire, one would be shocked and this is proven by an experiment (that is maybe touching the live wire which results in a shock) but what brings one to this conclusion is one's past experience with the live wire. In another situation if one refuses to use his past experience when he sees another live wire he is back to square one which means when he touches it to determine what will happen, he will be shocked all the same and this is how religion probably is. Human beings in one way or the other have encountered things out of the ordinary even from my own experience being Catholic , things that cannot be explained by scientific means and it is these experiences and ones rational thinking that makes man understand there is an entity greater than science which is God (even though many would not like to admit).
Viktor Frankl was quite right in his theories of man and human existence. In order to achieve the ultimate goal which we all strive for we need to be aware of the one who is already perfect and infinite and we can only find Him in religion.
Many of us know there is a God and He owns all and has given us all the necessary things needed to be perfect like Him,. those who say they do not believe in anything often contradict themselves because they heavily depend on either knowledge, technology or the government, in fact it could be said the government is some form of religion for many.  So the moral of the story is in order to achieve or attain the greatest and most satisfying goal in life, one has to believe, know and follow the one true being, this is the only way we would be truly satisfied.
